Loxahtchee River

Took the kayak out today on the Loxahatchee...put in at Riverbend Park in Jupiter.

What a gorgeous place! Quite the adventure though, the river was very high and the current was strong! The water often tried to pull us over the flooded land instead of following the actual river course.

This is a spot where we stopped for a bit to have a drink and rest...and also to go around one of the many fallen trees. At this point the tree was completely blocking our path on the river but this little shallow area went neatly around it. So we walked the kayak through and continued on for a bit longer.

We saw a big owl while we were out and after fighting the current (and avoiding a very large spider on the tree we were holding onto) we got into view but my camera just would not focus on him at all! Very frustrating...however I was glad that we got to see it.
