Magic!
If yesterday was Wicked today was pure Magic!
We were in Harrogate for 7.00am meeting John at his sister's house and we all set off to find a spot near the Empress roundabout where Le Tour would be passing after leaving Knaresborough. Arriving at 8.00am having passed a hotel where 3 of the teams had stayed and were preparing to leave for York, we set up our rug on the grass and had our picnic breakfast. There were very few people around at that time but we saw the Tour makers arriving to man the crossing.
We started with bacon butties and as the morning wore on had croissants and then egg and smoked salmon sandwiches with tea from the pub across the road before the 'caravan' started to arrive!
What a fab morning. We had John and Grace's two little nephews to entertain but as we had grass behind us for them to run about on.
Took hundreds of shots but of the ones of the actual 'Tour' I chose this one as it has Jens Voight on wearing the spotted jumper of the king of the mountains after winning the first stage climb over Buttertubs or as the commentary called it the 'Cote de Buttertubs'! It also shows the Yorkshire flag.
Loved every minute of it as I'm sure all the other blippers who have been out there will have done but this shot I took at 8.30am of the teams setting of from the aforementioned hotel is one of my favourites. In the bus window it says ' Thank you Yorkshire. Cofidis.' It sums it all up.
I want to say thank you Yorkshire and Le Tour too. I will never forget today!
PS watching the recording and saw ourselves on the telly, well we could tell it was us!
