Peloton

It's 20 years, almost to the day, since I last saw the Tour in this country. It started and finished in Southsea where I was living at the time, so we were able to mingle with the crowds and I remember seeing the eventual winner Miguel Indurain who had most of the crowds surrounding him. I wasn't going to bother this year, as I knew the actual cycling usually lasts seconds if you're spectating along the route, but in the end got sucked in by the hype. We had a lovely walk to Blackstone Edge Road and picnicked while the random police motorbikes, cars and sponsors vehicles went by for a couple of hours. Then the small leading group and the main peloton flashed by and it was over. A great day!
