Wheels, wheels, wheels!

I fell out of bed last night - think I must have been pedalling too hard!!

It's been another fantastic day. We walked across the road with the fold-up chairs to the hub at the canal basin to watch the 2nd stage on the big screen, and many groups of cyclists brought vivid splashes of colour around the car park (lycra only comes in fluorescent! and is worn by all ages, shapes and sizes!!). Half way through the afternoon a couple of boys turned up who had been on Blubberhouses. We sat in the sunshine and soaked up the atmosphere, watching the beautiful Yorkshire countryside unfold on the screen as the race progressed.

I feel extraordinarily proud of this weekend, of the place and the people, the incredible feat of organisation, the unsung heroes of the behind-the-scenes workforce, the honour of holding such a world class event. It has been a truly memorable experience and I am still on a high!! We'll be glued for the next 3 weeks.

Many thanks to my mum, who lent us her house for the weekend (and who doesn't know that we let an unknown biking couple park their Ducati on her drive yesterday when they were looking for somewhere safe - it had to be done, as fellow bikers!! they were lovely and we wish we had got their address).
