Lefkara

This is the Holy Cross church in lefkara. We hired a car for two days and headed up into the mountains today. It was such a pretty village and well known for it's silver and lace...there was silver purchased but no lace. We enjoyed Cyprus coffee, olive bread and baklava at lunchtime in a cafe and hotel that was in the process of being renovated - I'd love to stay there.

After this we went (slowly) further into the Troodos mountains. I say slowly because the 1000cc car was struggling with the incline and twists.

On the way back down we stopped in the village of Omodos and enjoyed a spot of dinner in the square. A nice local meal of Halloumi and pitta bread with village salad. The narrow streets of Omodos were lovely and there were lots of locals sitting in the square drinking coffee and beer.

Tomorrow we are going to go to the North coast (not the Turkish but obviously). We will visit a couple of beaches and Aphrodite's bath...well why not?!
