Life and death in the garden

I was digging out all the earth in the dead weed pots when I heard a frantic high pitched buzzing. It was this fly being wrapped in web by this spider! The spider seemed considerably smaller and more delicate than the housefly but it nevertheless won!
(You probably need to go large.)

After doing my swim, I went (after a break) to B & Q for new herbs and plants for the garden pots, then on to Morrisons for Pimms/beer/gin food for a BBQ this evening.

I then got down to preparing the pots by emptying the small ones and the top of the large ones...I also got washing out and other chores done, then enjoyed the evening meal outdoors.
