A Hard Day's Night

Very big day. Today was the launch of the 50th Anniversary Restoration of A Hard Day's Night. Chris has been working on the project for probably about two years now.

We own theatrical, DVD / Blu-ray, Download and PPV rights. Chris bought a partner in for the theatrical release, and hosted a huge joint launch at the BFI Southbank.

The director, Richard Lester was there doing interviews to promote it all afternoon (he is in his '80's now) and before the film he went on stage and did a Q&A session. He was really funny, warm and interesting. We obviously had lots of invited guests but most of the tickets were commercially available and it was sold out. The atmosphere was fantastic and it really felt like a magical hour.

After that, the movie was screened. I've always been a huge Beatles fan since discovering them with my friend Wendy via her Mum's vinyl collection in about 1981, and we both loved the films too. The restoration looks and sounds amazing and it was great to see it with a packed cinema audience, all laughing together.

Afterwards Chris threw a party at the BFI which was full of journalists, customers, friends and interested parties. He asked Gary Crowley to DJ and it was fantastic. I invited Wendy and her partner Paul (a huge Beatles fan) plus my friend Nibs and also one of my oldest friends, Titus, with whom I spent many a happy teenage hour listening to the Beatles, The Byrds, The Velvet Underground and so on. It was a fantastic night. We had an official photographer there but my favourite picture is still of Betsy and Al just before we left, in their Beatles t-shirts, all excited.

A really special night.
