I wonder how many guests would get round to mentioning to the hotel that it smelled of sewers on the way to the front steps, or how many would need to mention it prior to it being addressed. It would surely affect the people eating food in the nearby pubthing too, though perhaps at this time of year the only people using the outside tables would be those who disable their ability to smell anything much.
