Finger prints ..
Been to the dentist this morning. It was good.
From there I went to the Bank where I picked up my new petrol card. With enough photos in my (new) purse I visited the Licenses Department. I was issued with a temporary license while the permanent driver's license will take some time before it is ready.
More finger prints were taken.
This time they did not do an eye test. I wonder why not?
Then I plucked up enough courage and found my way back to the Homes Affairs Office.
I filled in an application for a (new?) replacement passport, paid double the amount it usually costs because I had lost it. Penalized?
The fact that it was stolen, does not count, you will pay until it hurts.
In my mother tongue we have a saying that goes something like this: Die wet van Transvaal is ... of betaal. I will rather not translate this saying, as it contains coarse language.
But it simply says: The law of the Transvaal (a province) is pay up or die - well, not die, exactly.
More finger prints were taken.
This has been quite an expensive exersize so far: to have everything replaced, stopped, newly applied for, photos taken, has come to the amount of R5575. Not much in another currency perhaps, but when you earn in Rands and Cents, it makes a hole in your pocket.
Anyway, this leaf with its lovely early autumn pattern, together with sparkling sunshine, made the day much better.
