What happened to tradition?
Normally at this time of year, the shops would be full of pretty dresses with full skirts for the little girls and checked shirts and patched trousers or dungarees for the boys, with straw hats to top it all off. All the schools and public squares would have Festas Juninas - June parties, with the kids dressed as hayseeds (girls with freckles and pigtails, boys with moustaches) and traditional foods, with a heavy North-eastern influence.
This year football seems to have pretty much wiped all that off the map. With grandchildren in mind, I took shots of what's on offer. Of course, Brazil would have to win... and by that time, everyone will be sick of football and of the ubiquitous yellow and green - at least, everyone who isn't Brazilian.
