Côte de Holme Moss
Stage 2 of the Tour de Yorkshire
Yesterday's stage winner Marcel Kittel in the yellow jersey feeling the burn in his legs on the slopes of Holme Moss. (One of the more amusing chalk messages on the way up the hill said 'taxi for Kittle!')
Another absolutely amazing day, this time watching from a high vantage point 1km from the top of Holme Moss which Andy had scoped out before the birds were awake with a very early morning bike ride. It has been reported that there were around 66,000 people on the slopes of Holme Moss cheering the riders, we were 2 of them! The police van which went past playing the Last of the Summer Wine theme tune also got a loud cheer! The sun was shining and the view was incredible as the riders snaked up the hill, helicopters buzzing overhead.
We joined the huge throng of spectators going down the hill after the riders had passed, we were just in front of 'that man from the telly' John Torode. We got down the hill and into a pub garden just in time to watch Nibali win the stage in Sheffield as it started to rain.
