Drillers at work!

There seems to be a vogue for pictures of trees against the skyline - and I like those very much. However today I spotted this view, and thought I'd try a variation on the theme. I am not quite sure what these guys are doing - they seem to be drilling on the top of an old slag-heap near Backworth on the edge of Newcastle. Maybe they hope there'll be some buried treasure.

Note the black clouds: I had set off for a ride on my bike in glorious sunshine, and "Bing" told me that there was 0% chance of rain. "Great", I thought...5 minutes after this photo was taken the heavens opened. The silver lining: the cloud improved the photo - and it was really quite warm rain :)
