Tour
Up to Ilkley to catch Stage One of the Tour de France, and the atmosphere along our stretch of roadside was really good, with palpable excitement rising as the riders at last hove into view. Unfortunately, literally seconds after this photo was taken my nephew slipped into the road and his foot was run over by one of the support cars. He was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary in the air ambulance and whilst he's avoided any broken bones he's subsequently had to have fairly major reconstructive surgery on his heel and is going to be out of action for a little while. We ended up at the race hub in the Riverside Gardens later on to catch the end of the stage but, to be honest, the shine had somewhat gone out of the day by that point...
