Mezzegra

After the storm last night calm has returned. It is market day so we head to the village for a couple of last minute purchases as gifts for when we get back.

We have decided to take the ferry into Menaggio for lunch. It is warm and sunny on the boat.One of the most photogenic villages from the boat between Lenno and Menaggio is Varenna, but as I have featured to before I selected this hillside view as my Blip of the day.

The village on the hillside is Mezzegra. This is a mile or so north of Lenno. A few weeks ago we walk past the church on the extreme right of the photograph. Sitting on the ferry it does not look that high up the hillside to the church, nonetheless when we walk there it felt quite a climb.

We have lunch and an ice cream in Menaggio before returning to Lenno. Normally we would have taken the bus, but as this will be our last visit before departing we decide to take the ferry for the return journey.

A last dinner in the apartment, tomorrow we have booked at a restaurant in Lenno. They asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside. I said that would depend on the weather, if it was like last night we would prefer to eat inside. They said they could not forecast the storms, but would accommodate us according to the conditions.
