Dancing in the street
The two Bs, Brazil and Britain, may have a little beef with Argentina, but when it comes to making music by the beach, there's nothing to beat the Argentine fans. We ate at a restaurant just across the road and watched as the crowd grew, then just had to go across and join in. The atmosphere was so electric, I couldn't wipe the broad smile off my face.
Afterwards, we commented on the slack wire artists to a very Brazilian looking young lady next to us, only to discover she was English, a teacher of dancing and owner of a dancing school in London, here on a commission. She was charming and fun to talk to, and I hope she'll be in touch next time she's in Rio.
Met more Brits when we made the obligatory stop at the gelato place - this time not so enchanted with the country, having been devoured by mosquitos in Manaus. Hope they'll enjoy the rest of their stay more, but suspect the itching has put them off forever.
