A Hover-fly
There are about 5000 species of Hover-fly. This one, Episyrphus balteatus, is common in the UK and is around for most of the year. Its larvae eat aphids so it is a useful insect to have around (unless you are an aphid).
Quite nice in large!
Another lovely day, until late this afternoon when we had heavy rain.
I have put another shot of this Hover-fly on the Blippers Community Overspill page here because I had trouble deciding which to blip.
