Roads less traveled
brought me inland into an old fashioned fairy tale land. Little farms, no industrial agriculture here. Freshly cut grass, a few horses and a tiny heard of Scottish Highlanders. Idyllic settings for some houses.
It seems as if all the threatening of modern times never reached these places. An incredible amount and variety of plants and flowers along side the road shows how little poison there is used here.
I went into a forest, which is already a secondary forest but logging stopped long time ago and the little one lane road was only for me. To the left and to the right giant fir trees, very impressive if not intimidating. I found a place to park the car and Maggie and I took off for a little walk in the big silence of the forest. She found pretty soon a leg of a deer with some fur still on it. She was very proud...
I saw a lot of berries, and places where wild animals might have slept over night, the higher I came. All of a sudden, I realized that I was in the wild, in bear country and that I was alone with my little girl who was thrilled by all the smells...
So I decided to go back to the car to be able to tell you about all this wild beauty!
Next time I will take hubby with me.
