Around this area there are a few pairs of trainers slung over telephone wires like those seen here by the roof of the Co-op.

A few weeks ago I was Googling train times, and as I typed in my search the auto-suggestion for "Trainers over power lines" came up. I was curious so I checked it out - I hadn't realised it was a "thing"!

There are quite a few suggestions as to what the phenomenon is about - marking the site of a mugging by throwing the victim's footwear over the wires, a bullying thing, or what seems most likely round here (of the sinister explanations at least) drug dealers advertising their presence in the area to potential customers. Of course it could just be the usual teenage high jinks!!
