A Baroque Dream
"Eiffel saw his Tower in the form of a serious object, rational, useful; men return it to him in the form of a great baroque dream which quite naturally touches on the borders of the irrational........architecture is always dream and function, expression of a utopia and instrument of convenience"
From ROLAND BARTHES in the 'The Eiffel Tower and Other Mythologies'
I feel something similar could be said about the Tour de France......it's become a dream and a monument and maybe borders on the irrational.
Anyway, the dream continues into stage 5...........
