By one of those odd coincidences, today I also bought this book in the Oxfam shop. It's extracts from a diary of country life, written by the politician Sir Edward Grey.
The man who said that famous phrase :
" The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime ".
