The changing colours of summer.

A typical Warwickshire field of wheat, swaying in the afternoon breeze. Its has been ripening for a week or so now and when fully ripe will be harvested, the grains separated and removed into store whilst the remaining straw baled and transported away.

The whole plant changes from a very deep green to a golden yellow in just over a month.

This was taken on the route of one of my favourite walks and on ground which has probably been farmed for thousands of years, the church only a stones throw away was built in the 13th century and the village was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
