Calmly gliding along

... at a very fast rate.
The sun was shining today and during my lunch break I was sitting on one of the benches by the big pond where the swans and ducks were swimming. Mr Swan then climbed onto the bank and started to sort his feathers out very close to me - followed by Mrs Swan and the cygnets. This would have been fine if colleagues sitting at the next bench along hadn't got up to go back inside. Mrs Swan took umbrage and as they walked off she hissed and humphed at them as she stood right by me. Understandably I decided to sit very still. I did wonder how long I would sit there. Didn't really mind as it was quite relaxing (once Mrs Swan settled down to preen - still right by me) watching the cygnets and ducks sitting together preening. The cygnets, having sorted out their feathers, decided it was too hot and went for a swim. Mrs Swan speedily followed them. Mr Swan just sat there. Back to being a peaceful moment. Swan obsession continues ... and if anything has been strengthened.

When I downloaded the photo I printed it out for a colleague and put it by her desk because the swan was very like her, in that they both appear calm and calming, gliding along while paddling fast - in her case doing lots of thinking - gathering concepts while working incredibly hard and being a brilliant person to work with.
