Beside the footpath

Early morning run in the nearly rain of a wild and windy and wet morning. The only people out and about were hurrying to catch a bus from Takapuna to the Devonport Wharf for the ferry to the central city, or some similar earnest activity. No one was sitting quietly enjoying a pre work coffee in any of the cafes I passed; even the one with the World Cup semifinal on a big screen was empty.

So in the end I chose to put up this photo of a bog iris, or is it a bog orchid iris? Despite the strong wind this is clear and sharp; more so than it seemed to my eyes at the time.
