GCR Gem

Another bike trip out of town lead me to these tunnels below the former route of the Great Central Railway. They are even further out than the GCR Stone Circle

These monumentally robust structures are the 19th century archeology we are yet to explore. One day they might be the only evidence humanity leaves behind; a millennia-long line of human heritage wound up in decaying viaducts and battered earthworks, visible to future adventurers from other worlds, a sign of life like the Martian river system? One does wonder.

I do enjoy these journeys by foot and by bike out this way, it's so much more of an interesting way to travel.
