Rose-breasted Grosbeak Juvenile
I'm guessing that he's new this year from his behavior... Lots of chirping for his parents and he wasn't afraid of me (yet).
My garden has been suffering from grasshopper annihilation of some plants and bunny munch-down of others... Of the plants that are healthy, not many are in bloom, so my bees are suffering too. So today I went and got a few more bee and butterfly attractors (some bee balm etc.). Hopefully I can protect them from the predators and still let the bees etc. enjoy them. (I'm not too sure that the sprays to keep animals from munching on the plants wouldn't also keep the bees away, so I'm going to skip those for now.) The bee balm plants had "deer resistant" tags, so I'm hoping that extends to bunnies as well. Otherwise this could get expensive... :-/ As far as the grasshoppers go, I don't know what to do! Any ideas would be welcomed.
