Blatting Along

BLUE BRICKS

Those of you who subscribe to Tussock's Tales will know all about blatting! Anyway, we went on our first "proper" bike ride this morning where we loaded the bikes up and put them in the back of the car to go somewhere specifically for a bike ride. (We're in training - no idea what for but we don't go very far yet) and we went to the South Staffordshire Railway walk which as you might understand is one of those old railway lines that has been adopted for leisure use. This one runs from near Dudley to Wolverhampton through some really lovely Staffordshire countryside and of course it's flat for the most part - an advantage currently.

One of the local industries is Brick making and some of the yards specialise in the really hard blue bricks of which some of the railway bridges are made. This is one of them with me in the distance blatting along behind Super Handyman Husband who had loads of time to get the camera out and take the shot! I was quite muddy by this stage having not managed to avoid all the muddy patches - but at least I hadn't fallen off or become grounded in the middle of a mud patch.

Shortly after this we arrived at the old Wombourne Station which has been converted into a very nice cafe so we just had to stop for an unplanned lunch. Very nice.

We have discovered too that we need elasticated straps to secure the bikes in the back of the car so we now have those and are going to try to get some high density foam to protect the bikes - they're still very new you see!

Blatting was good for two novices starting on an adventure. Back home for a rest now.
