Peck's Wildlife Park

Today the kids, Ya-ya and I went to Peck's Wildlife Park in Minocqua. We try to go once a year. We spent a long time in the parking lot looking for muskies in the pond. Once we got inside, we bought our rye crisp cracker packages and headed out into the farm area where goats and their kids roam freely along with a pig and a few tortoises. Occasionally an employee will take a small mammal, bird, or reptile from the cages. Today it was an armadillo. Before we went into the larger part of the park, Mia and Evan spent a good amount of time in the bunny cage. The only reason we got them out was the line forming outside the stall and the fact that there were deer and a bear you could feed inside.

All of the kids fed deer, including an albino buck, and then they each gave the bear a bottle of sugar water. We saw a wolf have it's lunch and kangaroos hopping around. Then we went into the Budgie Tent where we paid a dollar per popsicle stick to feed the parakeets. These are dollars well spent as the birds will perch right on your stick or sometimes your arm.

It was getting late, but we still had time to see the new exhibit: giraffes. We paid another $5 for a cup of carrots. One adult and two baby giraffes visited us at the fence. The kids all attempted to feed the giraffes carrots from their mouths. We were all amazed by their tongues. After our carrots were gone, we finished the zoo loop and headed back for one last cuddle with the baby bunnies. Luckily Mia could not read the sign that said they were for sale!
