War cake

Today marked the launch of the Liverpool Libraries Together World War One commemorative exhibitions. The launch took place in the Hornby Room of Liverpool Central Library. Theirs is a great exhibition, especially the film footage supplied by the North West Film Archive. There are similar exhibitions in all the partner libraries, which I must get round. This picture is of my LJMU colleagues Chris and Michelle handing out pieces of 'war cake' which they baked from Fanny Calder's wartime recipe from the LJMU archives. It is full of beef dripping! Mmmmmm
