nothing to beat this
One of my strongest memories of a Test cricket match that I never saw was in the summer of 1966. I was on a family holiday in North Wales and as we travelled we kept in touch with the score from the England v West Indies Oval test match on the radio. We were parked up below the mountain of Tryfan when Ken Higgs of Lancashire and John Snow of Sussex scored a record last wicket record stand and Snow scored the highest score by an England number 11 batsmen.
These men were my boyhood heroes.
Today against the odds new heroes walked from Trent Bridge - I say heroes but good as Joe Root is and will be in the future he was simply doing what he does well batting. Its Jimmy Anderson who is the real hero, like Snow in his day, Jimmy is the number 1 strike bowler had never scored a fifty ( 37 was is previous best). Today his 81 and Root (154*) saved the day.
Of course its not my photo - its from the England Cricket team pages but forgive me its been quite a day.
