An Artist's Life

A License to...

Off to the pub for a quick lunch. this wall of vintage license plates is interesting in that all the plates from these years are stamped metal....aluminum, zinc, steel...made at our state prison. They don't do that anymore...cruel and unusual punishment to mek the prisoners work, y'know. Now they are all printed on aluminum...we have over 90 different designs...true. I must blip them. Every charity, club, association, school wants their own design. Other states don't allow that many...we're more artistic? Individual? Also, on the old style and some of the new, the first number tells where you're from. For instance: 1 is Butte-Silverbow County, 4 is Missoula County, 13 is the Bitterroot Valley, on up to 56 which is Winnett - Petroleum County. So, if you spot someone while traveling who has your county number, you can wave and maybe have a conversation or know someone in common. Have had some very interesting meet-ups in very odd places in other states. ;-))
