What a long day today! Up at 8, & to the airport at 10 for an 11:00 flight, only to have the flight delayed for almost 2 hours! There were bad thunderstorms in the midwest which is where our plane was coming from, so the planes there were grounded for a while. Finally boarded, only to sit on the runway for almost another 35 minutes before we could take off...not sure why...We arrived in Chicago with about a half hour to spare to catch our connecting flight, only to find out that it was delayed as well. It was very overcast, but the thunderstorms of the morning had moved on; apparently they'd moved upward, & the plane that was coming in ALSO had been grounded for awhile. Our boarding gate changed 4 times, & they kept backing up the arrival time of our plane. We finally boarded around 5:15. The flight itself, once we got up, was only about a 20 minute flight! We flew home along the edge of Lake Michigan--the blue in the distance isn't the sky, it's the Lake. When we neared our airport, the plane went out over the Lake & circled back toward land so it could come in from the East toward the West, so came in right over our house, which we could clearly see! Pretty neat! Not good to have my vacation be over, but it's good to be home! :)
