Red & Yellow Swing

The village of Ladchado had an unusual water parade for the Khao Pansa Festival. Anywhere else, the Buddhist Lent Festival is on land. About 25km west of Ladchado lies the city of Suphanburi. Suphan means 'gold' & buri stands for 'town'. It is the capital of another Thai province historically famous in the history of the country. This is where there was a big battle between the Siamese & Burmese armies mounted on elephants and where the Siamese king killed the Burmese sovereign and won a historic battle over Burma. The city also hosts a large community of Chinese ancestry. They have a fabulous Phansa Festival. It was a solid 3-hour extravaganza of floats & folkloric procession. I took nearly two hundred pictures. I was able to make some nice portraits but this particular photograph remains one of my favorite.
