Remembering the Wars
Today went down to the Railway where they were still running the train remembering the 1st and 2nd world wars.
Over the weekend many hundreds have come to our small township to ride on the train and view all the exhibits down at railway. All run by volunteers and a great job they do indeed. The Model T Railcar was running as well. Our big Steam Engine AB 699 is out at the moment for its big 10 year check but it will be up and running again for the summer.
On the platform was a pipe band playing as if to farewell the soldiers on their way to war. NZ contributed many thousands of men to both wars with much loss of life.
It does well for all of us to remember their sacrifice.
It has been a very grey day I think snow must be on its way hopefully just in the hills.
