Salvage from the Wreckage

Somerset House

This afternoon, we went down to that London to see Agnes Obel play at Somerset House.
We started out with a trip to The Photographers' Gallery and, once there, made a thorough study of the tea and cake in the cafe. There was an exhibition of photos from 1950s Soho which was quite good and another of some new, promising photographers. I wasn't hugely impressed with these (apart from one picture which seemed to be shamelessly ripping off my Post-Its pictures - my Lawyers will be on the case). One guy did have a hugely impressive level of pretentiousness in his captions though.
After that, we walked to Regents Park and made a thorough study of the Boating Lake Cafe. It was nice to eat outside there. And took a few pictures of the picnicking groups in the park.
Then to Somerset House.
The stage was set up in a large courtyard and it was all very good. The crowd was a mix of Middle-Ageds and Hipsters. We fitted right in. I wasn't sure how well AO's rather quiet music would work outside but it was terrific. She was accompanied by two cellos and a violin and they had quite a beefed-up sound which worked really well.
C would have preferred that they had provided seating but she's not as Rock'n'Roll as me.
Then we walked back to Euston just in time for a half hour wait before a very slow, very full train which rolled in at 12:55. Thanks to M for picking us up!
