Looking back
Back in 1951, James Duthie, a cyclist from Cairnbulg - who happened to be deaf and dumb - set off to cycle from Aberdeenshire to Africa, and ended up writing a book about his journey called "I cycled into the Arctic Circle" which suggests that things didn't go as initially planned :) This year a new film, Dummy Jim (after his byname), has come out about James's journey and the closest showing to his hometown is in the theatre at Aden Country Park. Knowing that the theatre there is small, I decided I'd need to get tickets in advance and, of course, the only way to go and get them was on the bike.
This is the view looking back towards Bennachie from the road near Auchnagatt.
