Speedway Mecca
The annual pilgrimage to Cardiff today for the British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium, it really is an awesome night! The atmosphere is great as fans come from far and wide, it is Speedway’s Mecca, and the action on the track can be equally spectacular. It takes the riders approximately 55 seconds to do 4 laps of the circuit, just think on that for a minute and then throw in the fact that they’re riding a motorbike with no brakes. Scary hey?
We thought we might have had a British winner again, as the current World Champion Britain’s Tai Woffinden was going great guns through the heats and won his semi-final also. But alas in the final he fell to crowd favourite Greg Hancock.
I was up early and had a cracking walk up Penyfan, there were hardly any souls on it and there was a cloud inversion. The views were just stunning! Being up there helps me to sort stuff out in my head.
