Northern Brown Argus

This tiny butterfly was on the Rockrose where I knew it should come in July as this is the food source for the caterpillar. A first for me!
In Gaelic, the butterfly is dealain-de, fire of God and was thought to take the souls of the dead to heaven. It was a good sign for relatives to see them near the homes of the dead or dying. If they did not appear, the friends and relatives twirled burning sticks around to create a fiery trail as a substitute.
