Epic Hike, Epic Day.
Today I made coffee with rain water I collected last night and had breakfast in the Cactus Room while contemplating a hike. It was the first full day of no rain on the forecast and I was itching to do something big. Two of my friends walked in and from what they were talking about, it was clear we were all on the same page. We decided to hike straight up the canyon that we live in. It's the largest watershed on the west end of Catalina Island and I had never hiked the main canyon all the way up. It was everything I had hoped for. The rain had given everything a nice greening and there was waterfall after waterfall the whole way up. Once at the top we stopped for a snack (pictured) and contemplated our next move. From the top we could see Silver Peak wich is the only other peak taller than where we were. We went for it and made it up there a couple minutes before the sun dipped below the pacific. We hiked a different way down under the moonlight and seven hours after we started, we ended up where we started, in the Cactus Room. We had discussed dinner options the entire way down and were starving. Butternut Squash Enchiladas fresh salsa for dinner and for dessert, homemade ice cream and apple pie from scratch.
What. A. Day.
