Go West
The weather forecast suggested we should leave head west today to get away from the threat of rain near the coast. In fact I don't think the threatened rain ever arrived, but go west we did.
We got as far as Tomintoul having stopped at Corgarff Castle and the nearby restaurant. It turned out the castle was closed (It reopens on Tuesday), but we have visited the castle interior on a previous occasion. For me the attraction of this castle (perhaps it is more a fort) is the remoteness and the spectacular scenery in the area, and along the A939 which leads past the castle. This must be one of the most scenic roads in Britain.
I did not need to Photoshop the sky, this is how the camera recorded it. The strange thing is about half an hour after I had taken this photograph the sky looked much less threatening. There were a couple of light showers during the day, but otherwise we did not encounter any rain.
There were a several German tourists in Tomintoul, presumably on a distillery tour, maybe they will be celebrating tonight? Time will tell.
