MarshMallow?

Well...not exactly. This is the flower of the Scarlet Rose Mallow (Hibiscus coccineus) aka. Swamp Mallow, aka. Swamp Hibiscus. This is a beautifully flowering plant native to the Southern U.S. It really enjoys having it's feet wet or at least damp and so...it can be found growing in swampy or marshy areas. Swamp Mallows come in red, pink and white. I have several plants growing in the bog behind our pond. I must trim off the seed heads each season or I'll end up with these plants all over my bog.

The leaves of the Scarlet Rose Mallow, at first glance anyway, closely resemble Marijuana (Cannabis sativa), which, at this writing, is still illegal to grow in the stuck deeply in the 20th century great state of Florida.
