After being retrieved from the wardrobe a couple of weeks ago, I finally found a kettle lead and plugged this in again, only to be greeted with a brief hum and then silence. After replacing the internal fuse I had used it before barely a minute before discovering that the overdrive channel wasn't overdriving and that there was a thin column of smoke drifting out of it, resulting in it being whisked out to the back garden within ten seconds. After sitting there long enough to prove itself not on fire any more it was dismantled and the smell localised to the region of the transformer. The internet wasn't saying much, but mentioned a recall of another transformer from the same component manufacturer for a different model.
