French poppies
This is as good as it gets today...poppies on the side of the road, taken when we stopped to refuel as we were travelling through France. We woke up at 4am, left home at 5am, and at 7pm we arrived at our destination in Switzerland. A very long and tiring day. We passed many beautiful scenes as we drove through France...picturesque villages with sunflower fields in the foreground, waving wheat fields, lovely lines of trees on hillside ridges....but could we stop to take any photos? Oh no, we whizzed along with Gavin driving all the way, only stopping for necessary comfort breaks for us and for Murdoch.
Gavin does not mind driving and I hate driving long distances so I sat in the passenger seat and enjoyed reading - I started and nearly finished a very enjoyable book (Burial Rites, a beautifully written book set in Iceland and based on a true story, I do recommend it)
But now I am tired and an early night for all of us is required.
