Blackberry & apple

It's a funny old year. Everything in the garden seems a bit adrift of its usual timing. I have just picked enough big juicy ripe blackberries to go with some apples to make a crumble, about a month ahead of when we normally harvest the first of the summer blackberry crop.

One of our resident garden squirrels was already out there ahead of me, and scampered away from his perch near the bramble bush looking irked that someone else was also after the tempting fruit!
