Dave Murray, Normandy Veteran

Having asked this gentleman if I could photograph him – 'I usually charge!' – we talked for a long time. Nearly 90 and having left school immediately he was 14, he experienced the London blitz night after night before enlisting and being part of the Normanday landing (although he modestly claimed to be one of the last to do so). He and three siblings were part of the 2nd World War – his twin brother fighting his way from Italy through to Austria (and surviving). Dave's now enjoying a quietish life in Devon although, he told me: 'there are too many old people around here!'. A privilege to photograph and listen to his stories.
