Queensferry Crossing emerging..
Taken from a moving train on the Forth Rail Bridge this afternoon through a dirty window, this photo shows one of the huge towers rising behind the Forth Road Bridge, which is one of the three such towers of the new Queensferry Crossing.
It is due to open in 2016. The 1.7 miles (2.7km) structure will be the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world and also by far the largest to feature cables which cross mid-span. This innovative design will provide extra strength and stiffness, allowing the towers and the deck to be more slender and elegant.
Given the moving train and the dirty window, I am pleased at the result. I'll take another shot in a few months time to record progress.
