Mid summer
It seems no time at all since we were getting excited about spring flowers and meadows full of buttercups. Now on Bookham Common the grasses are drying out and the leaves on the oak trees have the heavy green of midsummer. It will soon be Christmas at this rate!
I was tempted to take a far less attractive shot in the car park of the Common, maybe to start up a conversation about fly tipping. There was a huge pile of builder's rubble in a heap in the car park. So selfish, so horrible, so unsightly. It will cost the council to clear it away, and I wonder whether it would be worth stopping charging builders to use the refuse dump, so they had no reason to fly tip.
