RAVINE BRIDGE
This bridge links the town of Filey to the Local Church of St Oswald.
Installed in 1994 as a replacement bridge, it was originally made in Leeds as a railway bridge by Joseph Butler & Co of Stanningley.
Joseph Butler was an Engineer, Ironfounder and Millwright who specialised in making iron bridges, initially for the Leeds and Selby Railway Company. The company also made the ironwork for the roof of York Station, before extending their work by manufacturing steam cranes.
In 1884 nearly 1000 workmen were employed. The business eventually closed in 1932.
