Ne m'oubliez pas
This little forget-me-not has appeared accidentally in my puddle-sized pond which is now more of a bog as it is overgrown with plants.
I've been fascinated to read about the stories linked to this tiny flower, myosotis, whose name comes from the Greek for mouse ear because of the shape of its leaf.
One legend tells of the creation story and how flowers were given their colour. This one cried out, "Forget me not!" All that was left was a pale shade of blue but the forget-me-not was delighted.
The forget-me-not's name was borrowed (or calqued (my new word of the day)) from the French ne m'oubliez pas which I thought appropriate for today's blip given my recent trip to France.
