There and back again

On a clear day....

We have been missing our walk to Lamberts in the mornings because of the road works but in the evening the road is open and 7pm is a lovely time to go and enjoy the weather, which tonight was very clear, in fact the Isle of Portland that you can see in the background must be some 20 miles away

It is not a true island as it is joined to the mainland by a causeway. It has a wonderful large harbor on the seaward side where the Olympic sailing took place. It is also where Portland Stone comes from. At the moment one of the large redundant quarries is earmarked to make a huge Jurassic Coast theme park

I have often noticed that in a lot of the pictures I take from Lamberts Castle, there is this band of cloud hanging over Portland, like it is this evening and you can see above it as well as below. Lamberts Castle is 256 m above sea level and I think this is what enables you to see this.
