A gift from George
Five years ago, this hydrangea was about 6 inches long. It was given to me by George, a lovely man in his nineties who I used to garden for every two weeks.
His garden was over 100ft long and a lot of it was taken up by hydrangeas . When I first started looking after his garden , he used to come out and talk to me, he would sit having a cuppa while stroking my dog Stan, who I used to bring along with me.
He didn't like what TV had to offer, preferring programmes from the 70's. I did buy him a few DVDs from eBay of Poldark and The Onedion Line , they had Chinese subtitles.
He taught me how to take hydrangea cuttings, I took quite a few , this was the healthiest one and he told me to take it home. This year is the best it's been so far, a lovely reminder of a very lovely man.
